Over the past weekend, we saw the Warzone Resurgence Series 2026 Championship tournament finish up, with G2 Esports coming out in 1st place. The Call of Duty (COD) esports action continues this week, with the Black Ops 7 tournament at the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026 mega-event.

The tournament runs from 5 to 9 August 2026, live on LAN in front of a huge crowd at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles venue in France. There's a massive $1,8 million prize pool to compete for. At the current exchange rate, that's nearly R30 million. The 16 qualified teams are also competing for a large haul of Club Championship points.

Proceedings kick off with the Group Stage (5 to 7 August), where all 16 teams are split into two GSL-Style groups of eight each. All matches are BO5, and the top four teams from each group advance to the Playoffs Stage.

In the Playoffs Stage, taking place this weekend (8 to 9 August), the eight remaining teams will compete in a single-elimination bracket. All matches are BO7 in this stage, except for the Grand Finals, which is BO9.
