The Overwatch Champions Series (OWCS) Midseason Championship at the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026 mega-event didn't disappoint, as the best teams in the world entertained fans with brilliant, strategic plays and pinpoint accuracy.

A total of 16 Overwatch esports teams competed for their share of the $1 million prize pool (roughly R16.5 million) and a heap of Club Championship points. The tournament ran from 29 July to 2 August 2026, keeping us on the edge of our seats.

In a grueling Group Stage, the 16 teams were whittled down to just eight for the single-elimination bracket. Last year's winners, Team Falcons, were eliminated in Group A.

South Korean squad ZETA DIVISION took charge of the Playoffs Stage, sweeping Dallas Fuel 3-0 in the Quarterfinals, and sweeping T1 with a 3-0 score in the Semifinals to reach the Grand Final. Against Twisted Minds in the Grand Fnal of the OWCS Midseason Championship at EWC 2026, we saw ZETA DIVISION draw first blood, and eventually take home the trophy with a convincing 4-2 win.

ZETA DIVISION's Kim "shu" Jin-seo was awarded the SONY MVP title, earning an additional $25,000 for his support plays throughout the tournament. Congratulations!
