The Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026 mega-event taking place in Paris, France, has been a wild ride thus far, with huge tournaments coming to an end, from Dota 2 to VALORANT, League of Legends and more. This week, the Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) tournament begins, and it's arguably one of the most exciting of the entire EWC. Let's take a look at the vital details.

CS2 at EWC 2026 tournament details

The CS2 tournament takes place live on LAN, with the Playoffs Stage in front of a huge crowd at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. For the final day of competition, Counter-Strike will return to the awesome Accor Arena venue in Paris.

There are a total of 32 teams competing for their share of the huge $2 million prize pool, and a large portion of Club Championship points. At the current Dollar to Rand exchange rate, that's roughly R32.6 million.

The action begins with the 32 teams being divided into four groups of eight, where a GSL-style format is used. Opening matches are BO1, and all the rest are BO3. The top four move on to the 16-team single-elimination bracket, where all matches are BO3, except for the Grand Final, which is BO5.
