FIFA 21

Once again, EA Sports is ready to kick off its own season.

At least in terms of sports video games. The jewel of the crown, as could be no other way, is FIFA 21, available from 9 October 2020.

Due to the situation in football and the world in general this year, the launch is coming a bit later than usual. FIFA 20 has been the longest season in a long time, so fans of this favourite football game will be anxious to know the main differences and changes in this new launch.

Starting with its star mode, FIFA 21 will feature FIFA Ultimate Team again this year. Putting together a squad by buying and selling trading cards, accepting the FUT challenges the game proposes, is a sure bet and something we’re glad to see return. Plus, there are some new additions

One of the main additions to this mode is Co-op 2v2. It has a completely new interface and allows you to take the pitch immediately, working with friends in the classic Squad Battles and Division Rivals modes. Everything is more fun with a partner and now you can make that dream of scoring goals two by two come true.

There will also be a new rewards system. Both in the Co-op modes and the known enemy of every FIFA player, Fut Champions. There’ll be a bit more of everything and it will be better. The leaderboards will now show the top 200, but to make it on them you’ll have to be a true genius at playing football with your hands.

Regarding Volta, that curious mirror that reflects our taste in impossible moves on football pitches all over the world, the Canadian company has worked very hard on this element, which they want to make another stronghold of the game.

5 new stadiums and the option to play with your mates, putting together a squad to suit your taste and needs, will delight those who are still nostalgic for the marvellous FIFA Street that had us create Ronaldinho. Careful with the nutmegs, which they’ve added to the game and will delight your annoying friend: keep your legs together.

In terms of general playability, EA has made two important changes, in addition to improving on the new characteristics from last year. The first improvement is the result of 50-50 challenges.

In the previous version, if you had Messi and came up against Ramos, you could get lucky and take the ball by force. But now that’s fixed and the challenges will be more realistic. Shorter players will have to use technique and avoid going face-to-face against the hardest centre-backs.

The call for run function has also been improved and the player can control them, not just the machine, so you can create your perfect plays and score that much-needed goal just before the final whistle.

Career Mode also has improvements, so you can play off the pitch, too. New market options, more realistic functions and a progression that seems much more natural for both players and clubs.

A calm, delightful player experience that seems straight out of Football Manager. However, it does give you the option of simplifying things and continuing as it was in the old days.

By the way, if you’re thinking about getting a new generation console, you’re in luck. You can take the pitch with the new PS5 or Xbox X Series if you bought this football simulator for the previous generation.
