GTA 6

The Grand Theft Auto saga, known by the initials GTA, has seen more media attention than nearly any other in the history of video games. Especially since the games for PlayStation 2, it has been one of the few titles that has transcended the video-game industry.

This, and because the previous version came out nearly eight years ago, is why GTA VI has become one of the most anxiously awaited games in history. Something completely unheard of if you consider it hasn’t even been officially announced yet.
So far, all we know about a possible sixth part comes from summaries and filtrations that are only growing in number and intensity. Rockstar, however, hasn’t said a word.

Rumours have it that the game could come out in 2023 and take players back to Vice City, that fictional version of Miami that we explored in the GTA with that name, launched all the way back in 2002.

The only thing that seems certain for now is that the developer isn’t in any hurry. According to executives, to avoid situations like Crunch.

The global health situation has surely put a damper on development of GTA VI and is why we’re still waiting for confirmation. It’s highly likely that the game will only see the light of day when it is completely ready, to avoid a situation like Cyberpunk.

Anyway, Rockstar hasn’t launched a new game since 2018, when Red Dead Redemption 2 broke all sales records with one of the best open worlds ever.

For now, it seems we’ll have to be content with continuing to enjoy GTA V, with weekly updates to the online mode. Although the game has been on the market for years now, it is still one of the best-sellers, thanks to this mode.

This could be one of the biggest problems with launching a new version. There are loads of questions about this: what would happen to all the hours players have put in over all these years?

Grand Theft Auto is one of the franchises that invests the most in production and Rockstar needs long-term success to see good return on this investment. This seems complicated when they’ve become their own toughest competition.

Not to mention unofficial servers like Role Play, which could be cut off while waiting for all the community’s content to transfer to this hypothetical new game.

As you can see, there are still more questions than answers and it doesn’t seem like the developer is going to make a move in the short term to appease fans with GTA VI. Plus, it is highly unlikely that they would announce the game more than a year before it launches.

In terms of playability, speculation has it that GTA VI will be episodic, like Red Dead Redemption 2, and may even star a female character for the first time in the history of the saga.

However, these are the only two details that have appeared in so many filtrations that they seem pretty certain. The rest is still a mystery and the rumours change every few weeks.

Rockstar is managing the hype perfectly, and not a week goes by without talk of GTA VI. This pressure will have to be backed up with a game that lives up to expectations. And that will be no easy feat.

What do you hope for from GTA VI?
