The best games with Disney princesses

Disney’s relationship with the world of video games has changed over the years. Before, there were games for nearly all its franchises, but more recently they have become much harder to find.

Games with the legendary Disney princesses are even more difficult to get your hands on. Nevertheless, there are loads of games that feature them as the protagonist or secondary characters to make the adventure more pleasurable.

The latest to get her own game was Princess Merida. The star of Brave got a full-on adventure in 2012, just days after the film launched.

Hopes weren’t very high, but it went surprisingly well. Everything met expectations, with an experience that could be enjoyed by the little ones as well as more discerning players.

The surprise was that Disney changed its approach to the video game world after this title. The playability, graphics and adventure all worked well, despite being tied to the original film script.

Thanks to backwards compatibility, you can still play Brave on any Xbox system.

However, it isn’t exactly the last great work starring a Disney princess. Moana, the main character in the eponymous film, got her own game for iOS devices.

It’s called Moana: Rhythm Run, a side strolling endless runner adventure that has players follow the rhythm to dodge obstacles.

You just have to run, hit and jump, but it works really well if the goal is to be entertained for a while. Plus, it uses instrumental versions of the best songs from the film, quite a plus when you want to relive your favourite Disney moments.

The Disney princesses don’t have such an important role, however, in Disney Princess Majestic Quest. A classic Candy Crush style game that has animation stars set tasks and puzzles to complete.

The various phases include helping Mulan, Jasmine, Belle and Ariel solve some problems. A classic game mode with even more classic characters, although it is quite colourful and gives you a reason to move the tiles around to solve the puzzles.
Disney Princess Majestic Quest is a fool-proof option for iOS and Android.

There are still a few more titles, and one of the most noteworthy of the whole list is Disney Magic Kingdoms. It is available for mobile or PC and, basically, promises to let you create your own Disneyland.

It offers the best of the best characters from the saga and, of course, accompanied by others like Mickey Mouse, Stitch and Sulley. An endless adventure that is still being updated and where there’s always something to do.

In the end, everyone has dreamt of going to a Disney theme park but there’s nothing like making your own, from home on any mobile phone.

To round out this list, we can’t forget the jewel of the crown: Kingdom Hearts III. A very peculiar role-playing game that takes you through a handful of meticulously recreated Disney worlds accompanied by Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy. With settings the little ones will recognise and that will make not-so-young players relive the magic.

A visit to the world of Frozen, which includes an amazing version of the song “Let It Go”, and the fact that Elsa is in the game make it necessarily one of the great titles featuring a Disney princess.

Plus, she isn’t the only one. Rapunzel is also there and there is an incredible visit to the world of Monsters, Inc. Okay, Boo isn’t a princess, but you can’t say it isn’t worth it.

Which one will you choose?
